This photo shows the Milky Way framed by beautiful, multicolored rock formations in the Paint Mines Open Space in Calhan, Colorado. This photo is a composite of two photos, one exposed for the Milky Way and a second for the foreground. The rock formations were illuminated with a flashlight to highlight their distinctive colors. The Paint Mines is my favorite place for astronomy and astrophotography near Colorado Springs. Taken with a Canon 70D and a Rokinon HD8M-C 8mm f/3.5 HD fisheye lens.
